Summer Field Trips

The High Park Nature Centre offers outdoor nature programs to community groups like day cares and day camps in the summer months. Our programs are designed to get kids closer to nature while having fun!


2 Hour Program:
$7.50 per child
A minimum fee of $112.00 applies to all groups for 2 hour programs.
Leaders, volunteers and parents participate at no charge.

Maximum 30 students per program.
Group leaders and parent volunteers participate at no charge.


Program times can be slightly modified to accommodate group meeting schedules. Please inquire about varied times during booking process.

Summer (July and August)

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • 12:30-2:30 pm or 1:00-3:00 pm
    (program times can be shortened to 1.5 or 1 hour if needed) 

NOTE – Summer field trips are conducted completely outside. All programs will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather (such as heavy rain, thunder and lightning storms, or high winds over 35 km per hour). If a program is to be cancelled by the High Park Nature Centre, we will contact you by 11:00 am.

Dip & Duck
Age 7+
Meets at the Grenadier Restaurant. Click here for directions.  

Explore Toronto’s largest pond and find its inhabitants, both big and small! We will learn about water birds and play some games, and then dip-net in the pond to find the tiny creatures living in the water.

Nature Detectives
All ages
Meets at 440 Parkside Drive (the old Nature Centre location). Click here for directions.
Become an animal detective! Learn about clues animals leave behind, and track them in the forest. Play fun animal games and become an animal yourself!

Pollinator Pals
All ages
Meets at the High Park Avenue main gates (just south of High Park subway station). Click here for directions. 
Learn about the pollinators of High Park and why they are important through games and hikes, and go bug catching to see them up close.

Please be advised that two weeks notice is necessary for cancellations and one week notice to reschedule. An invoice for 50% of the originally booked group fee will be issued for any late cancellation or rescheduling.

Programs will proceed rain or shine. Please remind all participants to dress appropriately for the weather as we will be outdoors for all of the activities.Programs may need to be cancelled by the High Park Nature Centre in the case of inclement weather such as heavy rain, thunderstorms, or high winds over 35 km per hour. If a program is rescheduled by the High Park Nature Centre, we will contact you by 11:00 am on the day of the program.
