
Winter 2012 program registration will take place Monday, November 28th starting at 8:00 am. Nature Centre staff will be ready to receive your registration form(s) and payment at 8:00 am on a first-come, first-serve basis.
| At Home in High Park | Ages 5 - 10 | High Park is the place for learning outdoors. Our homeschool and unschool group meet bi-weekly to learn from the nature around them. Together, we focus on the changing seasons, winter animals and healthy habitats of our favourite park. | Session Dates: Jan. 9, 23, Feb. 6, 27, March 5, 19 Time: 1 - 3 PM | Cost: $110 |
| Saturday Morning Naturalist Club | Ages 6 - 8 | Sure, you could watch Saturday morning cartoons this winter... but wouldn’t you rather explore the biggest park in Toronto? Adventure every other Saturday with Zak and Christianna as you hike the winter trails, play nature games, make art, explore nature and learn how to take care of the park. | Session Dates: Jan. 14, 28, Feb. 11, 25, March 10, 24 Time: 9:30 am – 12 noon | Cost: $95 |
| Ramblers Hiking Club | Ages 8 - 12 | Join the Ramblers as we strap on snowshoes for adventures in the snow. We orienteer, visit the pond, find ways to stay warm, and feed the winter birds. Young people interested in building their naturalist skills will find a welcoming community. | Session Dates: Jan. 7, 21, Feb. 4, 18, March 3, 17. Time: 9:30 am – 12 noon | Cost: $95 |
| After School Adventures | Ages 8 - 12 | Come outside and play! We will be appreciating the finer side of winter as we snowshoe, slide, build snow forts, explore the trails, and hand-feed chickadees. Young adventurers and naturalists will love this club. | Session Dates: Jan. 10, 24, Feb. 7, 21, March 6, 20. Time: 4 – 5:30 pm | Cost: $70 |
| Knee-High Naturalists | Ages 3 - 5 with parent or caregiver Younger siblings are welcome, but adventures are not generally stroller-friendly. | Kids and caregivers alike hone their naturalist skills through outdoor exploration. We craft, we read stories, we hike and we play! This popular program helps foster awareness and appreciation of nature in winter. Caregivers learn many new ways to introduce their kids to the natural world. | Session Dates: Jan. 10, 24, Feb. 7, 21, March 6, 20. Times: AM sessions 9:30 – 11 am PM sessions 1:30 – 3 pm | Cost: $85 |
| Location | Programs take place at the High Park Nature Centre located on the eastern perimeter of the park at 440 Parkside Drive (at the intersection of Parkside Drive and Indian Valley Crescent). |
| Registration | Pre-registration is required for all programs. Registration cannot be confirmed until payment has been received. |
| Age Requirements | For all programs, children MUST be of the minimum age of the program on or before the start of the program. |
| Registration Policies | Programs are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration dates are announced about one month prior to the registration date to those people who are on our e-mailing list. If unable to register in person, you can send another person in your place to register your child(ren). This person may only register the children in a single family sharing the same address. This policy is in place to prevent a single person from registering several children from several families. We will not make exceptions to this policy. |
| Cancellation Policy | Plans can change quickly. For a refund, please email or call in your request at least 10 business days prior to the start of the program. An administration fee of 10% will be charged for early cancellations. For requests received less than 10 business days prior to the start of program, an administration fee of 50% of the fee will apply. A full refund will be issued if a program is cancelled by the Nature Centre. |
| Weather Policies | Programs will proceed rain, snow or shine. Please be sure to dress your child appropriately for the weather as we will be outdoors for most of the activities. Indoor programs will be run in the case of severe inclement weather such as heavy rain, thunderstorms, snowstorms or high winds over 35 km per hour. We also advise wearing long pants, socks and long sleeved tops to protect against poison ivy. If you have any questions please call our office at 416-392-1748 ext. 2. |
If you are unable to register in person on Monday, November 28th, you have the following options:
1 – You can send another person in your place to register your child(ren). This person may only register the children in a single family sharing the same address. This policy is in place to prevent a single person from registering several children from several families. We will not make exceptions to this policy.
2 – You can send your registration by mail to: 440 Parkside Dr, Toronto ON M6R 2Z3. Mailed registrations will be taken care of in the order that they are received ONLY AFTER in-person registration is completed.
3 – You can drop off your registration form and payment at the Nature Centre, either giving it to the staff (if available) or leaving it in our secure mailbox. These registrations will be taken care of in the order that they are received ONLY AFTER in-person registration is completed. If there is a program in session, please DO NOT enter the Nature Centre; we would prefer you leave your form in the mailbox in that case.
Please note: Payment for programs can be made by CASH or CHEQUE only. Registration forms will only be accepted if they are accompanied by the program fee.
