High Park Rangers

Drop-off Program
Ages 12 – 14 for summer, 12-16 during school year

High Park Rangers – Youth Volunteer Group

High Park Rangers is our newest weekday after school nature club for youth aged 12 – 16. Youth will take care of High Park while becoming environmental leaders in the community. The High Park Rangers will develop important skills and perform meaningful stewardship work. The High Park Rangers will also help lead the drop-in Family Nature Walks for the public and plan their own public walk to teach the community about their stewardship activities. Participation in High Park Rangers will help youth accumulate “community involvement hours” required to graduate high school.

High Park Rangers Summer Camp

This 4-day summer camp is for youth aged 12-14 who are fascinated by nature. Each day we help take care of the natural spaces in High Park while having fun exploring Toronto’s largest green space! Youth participate in hiking, nature exploration, and naturalist mentorship. The High Park Rangers will develop important skills and perform meaningful stewardship work.

High Park Ranger activities are guided by the weather and the seasons. We will be focusing on:

  • Planting native plants
  • Removing invasive species in partnership with Toronto Urban Forestry
  • Improving and maintaining nature trails in the park
  • Helping to plan and lead a fun “Know Your Nature” hike for the public
  • Helping out with Family Nature Walks on the weekends
  • Nature photography
  • Using maps and compasses for orienteering
  • Animal and plant identification
  • Making projects for the Bowling Field
  • Cooking with invasive species
