Petals are falling a little more rapidly now, but the blossoms are holding on! It’s still a great time to visit the park to see the beautiful sakura blossoms…but come soon, it won’t last much longer!
Cherry Trees near the Adventure Playground
Red Admiral butterflies are visiting the blossoms for a sip of nectar. They like to land on people taking pictures of the cherry blossoms.
Marsh Marigold along the way…
Hillside Gardens Sakura
Still like a fluffy pink cloud…
We love spring in High Park!
It is still worth a visit to High Park to see the Cherry Blossoms! The blossoms in Hillside Gardens near Grenadier Pond and close to the Adventure Playground are hanging on, despite those 90-100km/hr wind gusts yesterday!
Blossoms and petals are starting to fall and the ground is getting covered with white fluffy “sakura snow”.
Green cherry leaves starting to unfurl as the blossoms fall.
We hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful sakura blooms this weekend – the park was very busy! With only a bit of rain this morning, it couldn’t have been a better weekend for peak bloom. There are still many blossoms to see, but visit soon as it won’t last long (walk/bike/TTC please). The cherry trees in Hillside Gardens are just starting to drop petals. The trees near the Jamie Bell Adventure Playground are a few days behind and have just reached peak bloom – really pretty! We will keep posting throughout the blooming period, so stay tuned!
High Park’s Cherry Blossoms are at peak bloom for the most beautiful day of the week! A visit tonight or tomorrow morning is recommended. Please, please walk, bike or TTC to the park if you can – the parking lots are already full to bursting and traffic in the park is congested. It is hard to say how the rain showers on Saturday afternoon and Sunday will effect how long the blossoms last – stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted! Enjoy! Happy spring!!!
It’s mid-week and the sakura in High Park’s Hillside Gardens are at about 95% bloom! Stay tuned for more updates this week to help you plan your weekend visit. Please remember to walk, run, bike or take the TTC to the park!
Lots of fluffy white blossoms cover the trees! So beautiful in the morning sun.
The 75km/hr wind gusts only blew a few blossoms off, and a few petals are starting to fall from the trees in the warm sun that bloomed earlier than most.
The cherry trees in the cool ravine valley by the Adventure Playground / High Park Zoo parking lot (Parkside and High Park Blvd. entrance) are a few days behind Hillside Gardens. Should be looking good for this weekend!
The cherry trees in High Park are at different stages of bloom, depending on where they are! The trees in the “Hillside Gardens” on the steep hills down to Grenadier Pond and along the shore of the pond are at about 55-65% bloom today. It’s windy and a bit chilly, but very beautiful!
Trees in the sun along West Road (enter the park at Bloor and High Park Ave. main gates and follow the southbound ring road) are at peak bloom already!
High Park’s cherry trees are at 15% bloom today. If the warm sun and air temperatures continue, we think the trees will reach peak bloom in 2-3 days.
Branches in the sun have more open fluffy white blooms than branches in the shade.
This year’s bloom is about three weeks early. Last year, the bloom was three weeks late!
